SAN DIEGO; July 25, 2018 – The San Diego Tourism Marketing District (SDTMD) is kicking off Fiscal Year 2019 with a new board chairman, slate of officers and three new board members.
Chairman Richard Bartell, president of Bartell Hotels, has been a member of the SDTMD board since its creation in 2008 and has served at the helm of San Diego-based Bartell Hotels for more than 35 years. Joining Bartell as officers on the board are Vice-Chairman C. Terry Brown, president of Atlas Hotels; Secretary Colleen Anderson, general manager of Omni San Diego; and Treasurer Vikram Sood, senior vice president of RAR Hospitality.
Serving on the SDTMD board are Matt Greene, senior vice president of operations for Evolution Hospitality, joined by new board members Ilsa Butler, senior vice president of sales and marketing for Evans Hotels; Tim Herrmann, general manager of Marriott Marquis San Diego Marina; and Steve Cowan, general manager of Hilton San Diego Bayfront.
“The Board looks forward to continuing the positive momentum of the past year, especially as we work toward ambitious long-term goals for growing TOT in the City of San Diego,” said Bartell. “TMD supported programs and initiatives play an important role in filling City hotel rooms, especially as we face increased competition from other destinations and a projected growth in City hotel room inventory over the next few years.”
The San Diego Tourism Marketing District is a nonprofit, mutual-benefit corporation dedicated to improving lodging room night consumption in the City of San Diego. SDTMD’s assessment of all City hotels with 70 rooms or more provides a private, nonprofit funding vehicle to stimulate City of San Diego lodging room demand through tourism promotion, marketing and advertising programs. The judicious allocation of these resources creates a positive economic, fiscal and employment impact on TMD lodging businesses in the City of San Diego.
